On May Day I took Evan and Miles with me to pick out some flowers for the flower boxes on our back deck. Evan loved looking at all of the different flowers at the garden center, and was excited about helping me choose which ones to bring home.

I didn't realize until we were home that we had chosen a "Rachel" dahlia! That made me smile.

After naptime and lunch we got started. I cleared out the flower boxes, and we arranged our supplies (potting soil, scoops, water, etc.) on the back deck.

Evan loved being in charge of the water. Here he is bringing it over, getting it ready.

Evan was so intent as he worked, scooping the soil into the boxes. He is such a good little worker, and fully immersed himself in his tasks. What a joy to watch him!

I let Evan water the flowers once they were planted, all by himself. He did great!

We swept up our mess, and I then I let Evan examine his work.

After spending some time admiring the beauty of the flowers, Evan and I came inside for some cool drinks. We clinked our cups together and said, "Cheers!" to one another, to celebrate a job well done.
