Dear Paula,

I keep coming back to look at this photograph. You look so beautiful, there with Steve and Bryan and baby Kyle! I love this portrait of your family in its early stages.

You were there where I am now, and, as I look at this photo, I find myself praying that God would help me to raise my sons as well as you have raised yours, so that they, too, may become men of faith, of integrity and grace, with great senses of humor, and great love and compassion for others. You didn't know all that was ahead of you then, just as I don't know what is ahead of me. I marvel at the job you have done as a mother, Paula, and I am thankful for your journey as a woman who recognizes herself as a daughter of the LORD...a journey that is ever-unfolding. You have taught me so much, and continue to, through your faithful example. I am so blessed to be your daughter through my marriage to Kyle, one of your 8 children!

I came across this photo the other day...you and Steve with your first two grandsons. And now there are 5! Five little boys who love their grandma, love being held in her arms and snuggled, love playing with her and hearing her sing, love her fabulous cooking, love coming to her house to spend the night! You have a very special place in each one of their hearts, and it couldn't be more obvious than it is with Evan, who talks about you and Grandpa every day.

You care for us all so wonderfully and well, looking for small and big ways to bless us every chance you get. In this blog, we hope to bless you, Paula. With little anecdotes from our days, with photos of our outings and our boys, with letters to you that come straight from our hearts. This blog is "your" blog, and we invite you to share it with whomever you choose! Simply direct them to paulagough.blogspot.com, and they will arrive right here in this spot we will be making for you over the many months to come.

I love you, Paula.

God bless you on your birthday,

Kristen
