I think grocery shopping with kids should be considered an Olympic event. I mean it doesn’t matter rain or shine ALWAYS wear short sleeves, preferable breathable because you will be sweating profusely. It takes great skills to balance a screaming toddler on your hip while bagging apples and oranges and when hunting for interesting ingredients like, say, wheat free oyster sauce for the fancy seared tofu you are craving for dinner make sure you’ve got plenty of snacks and toys to yank out of your bag because you will need them.
Always, ALWAYS hit the bakery section three quarters of the way through because the free cookie the kids get won’t last very long but you can use the anticipation during the first half to bribe your two year old to follow you instead of waving and striking up conversation with the guy in the meat department (and the produce section etc.).
And above all else you must grow a thick skin in the checkout line when the woman behind you is glaring and then decides to yell at your kid because he keeps telling her that the gummy dinos are his special potty treats…hmm maybe her blood sugar was low. I know mine was but this is an event, not for the faint of heart something to push through, something that brings great pride when finished and all fifteen bags of food are tucked safe and sound in the trunk of the car and your kids are in their car seats nibbling on snacks.

I love how the kids always fall asleep on the way home too as if they are the ones that need a nap, ha!
I have to psych myself up for a least a day before doing the weekly shopping I have no clue Paula how you did it with four boys..you deserve a gold medal for sure!
We were also so thrilled to hear the good news yesterday, praise the Lord!
Miss you this rainy Tuesday!
